An all-new live planetarium show is coming to the Evansville Museum of Arts, History & Science!
Star-Spangled Skies takes viewers on an immersive journey across the night sky to learn how different cultures have shared their unique perspectives of the stars. Acting as a celebration of human storytelling and the 250th anniversary of the United States, this new live planetarium show has something for everyone, from beginners to astronomy experts.
Star-Spangled Skies focuses on Native American stories passed down from generation to generation. The stories of the Cherokee, the Navajo, and other Indigenous Peoples are put front and center as audiences learn about different views of the constellations.
The new show also turns back the clock and highlights what people thought our Solar System looked like in the past. 250 years ago, we only knew about six planets in our Solar System, but scientific advancements have changed our views of the cosmos. Utilizing realistic computer models and a stunning backdrop of the night sky, audiences will discover just how much we've learned in only a few centuries.
For future astronauts and fans of space exploration, Star-Spangled Skies also dives into the Space Race and NASA's Artemis program, which will return humans to the surface of the Moon in 2028 with Artemis IV. Guests will learn all about what space missions we can look forward to in the near future, including the eventual and inevitable manned missions to Mars.
Star-Spangled Skies is showing in the state-of-the-art 360-degree Koch Immersive Theater starting this August. Shows are only available on 1 Friday and 1 Saturday each month beginning Friday, August 7 and Saturday, August 8. Don't miss it!
