The Evansville Museum of Arts, History & Science is making waves with the announcement of a new immersive science exhibit and the premiere of a brand-new immersive theater film, both centered around the wonders of Earth’s oceans.
Oceans! Journey Beneath is an interactive immersive science exhibit where guests can learn about Earth’s five oceans and the many other oceans in our Solar System. Discover thriving marine ecosystems, engage with hands-on science demonstrations, see fascinating natural history artifacts and get up close to a 300-pound giant clam. You can also enjoy a live aquarium tank, thanks to Whitlyn Aquatics. Whether you're a curious explorer or a lifelong ocean lover, this exhibition offers something for all ages. Oceans! Journey Beneath is open now through January 4th, 2026.
Also premiering is Ningaloo, a brand-new 360º immersive full-dome experience for all ages. Join 24-year-old marine biologist Anna Cresswell on a magical expedition into Ningaloo Reef—a natural wonder stretching 260km along the coast of Western Australia and even visible from space. Aboard the two-person submarine Odyssea, you’ll journey through a vibrant highway of life, from the planet’s tiniest fish to the majestic whale shark, and witness the rare spectacle of coral spawning.
Jaigan Allport, the George & Dorothy Eykamp Director of Science Experiences at the Evansville Museum, explained: “Oceans! Journey Beneath demonstrates how we are affecting Earth’s oceans, and Ningaloo captures how our oceans are affecting us. In Ningaloo, you see actual scientists doing actual science out in the field. Science isn’t just sitting at a desk; it allows you to study our natural world more closely than ever before, and there’s even this sense of adventure when seeking the unknown.”
Ningaloo is now showing daily in the Koch Immersive Theater & Planetarium! Catch three showings on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and two showings on Sundays!
