Stay up late with us for a special evening under the stars as we observe the 2026 Partial Lunar Eclipse!
During a partial lunar eclipse, the Earth passes between the Sun and Moon, casting part of its shadow across the lunar surface. The Moon may take on a striking reddish hue as Earth's shadow moves across it. Unlike a solar eclipse, a lunar eclipse lasts for several hours and can be viewed safely with the naked eye from much of Earth's night side.
We'll explore the science behind this celestial event and take a closer look at what's happening in the night sky.
What's a lunar eclipse without a little classic sci-fi?
We'll cap off the evening with a screening of Plan 9 From Outer Space (1957), the famously campy science-fiction classic often celebrated as one of the greatest “bad” sci-fi movies ever made.
