Join the Evansville Museum of Arts, History & Science for a special presentation with Dr. Julie Merkle, Associate Professor of Biology at the University of Evansville, as part of our annual Scientist-in-Residence program.
Dr. Merkle specializes in genetics, cell and molecular biology, and developmental biology. In addition to teaching biology at the University of Evansville, she serves as Director of the Eykamp Center for Teaching Excellence.
As part of this year’s Scientist-in-Residence program, Dr. Merkle will visit local 5th grade classrooms throughout the Tri-County Area, bringing science directly to students and giving them an opportunity to engage with a working scientist.
The classroom visits are expected to reach approximately 210 students, creating opportunities for young learners to explore biology, ask questions, and connect what they learn in the classroom to real-world scientific discovery.
The program will culminate with a public presentation at the Evansville Museum on Friday, October 9. This special afternoon talk gives Museum visitors the opportunity to hear from Dr. Merkle and learn more about the fascinating world of biology.
