By early 1946 the sale of equipment and property at the Shipyard was well underway. The Surplus Property Administration handled the sale of land while the War Assets Administration dealt with the sale of property. The sale of Shipyard assets continued through 1948.

Some of the physical reminders of the Shipyard were swept away in fires that occurred at the Shipyard on July 2, 1945 and on January 26, 1946.
