
On June 9, 1944, the Shipyard received a white star to add to its Army-Navy "E" flag-12,000 attended this ceremony. The white star signified six months' of continued production excellence. Second from the left in this image is Rear Admiral Edward Cochran, Chief of the U. S. Bureau of Ships, and to his right is Frank Harrison, General Manager of the Evansville Shipyard.
Also on this day, Rear Admiral Cochrane's wife christened the Shipyard 100th ship, LST 575.
