Launchings were always festive occasions at the Shipyard as hundreds and sometimes thousands of people gathered for these invitation only events that traditionally occurred at noon Central War Time. From the launch of LST 157 on October 31, 1942, through the launch of LST 1110 on February 9, 1945, 167 of these ceremonies occurred for LSTs.
