SPRING BRINGS VISITORS FACE-TO-FACE WITH REAL ROBOTICS
Presented in partnership with
TOYOTA MOTOR MANUFACTURING, INDIANA
From The Jetsons to the Transformers, from War of the Worlds to
Independence Day, robots have long been a staple of science
fiction. Robots also work behind the scenes in many industries
where they may be used to assemble automobiles, count pills in
a pharmaceutical plant, or wrap and bundle freight in a
distribution center. Beginning May 4, robots will step out of the
realms of imagination and industry and into the Evansville
Museum through the science exhibition REAL ROBOTICS.
Designed and built by the MRISAR Institute of Science, Art &
Robotics, LLC, the devices in the exhibition demonstrate the
range of robotics technology available today.
Guests can try to help four robotic pets find food and get along
with each other, while managing a shared habitat for two
nocturnal and two light-loving critters. Visitors can challenge a
robot in a game of Tic-Tac-Toe or explore the surface of an alien
planet with the Planetary Probe Robot. The exhibition presents
several robotic arms that have been designed to mimic human
movement, including a three-fingered arm that was featured in
the 2007 film The Last Mimzy.
