June 21, 2014, 7 PM
On Saturday, June 21, The Evansville Museum Contemporaries will bring a taste of Europe to the Museum with their annual wine tasting, UNCORKED. This year’s event will feature a wide variety of European wines from France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany and Greece, and a diverse spread of heavy hors d’oeuvres. Wines from Carroll Wine and Spirits, Monarch Beverage and Glazer Distributers will be included, as well as treats and hors d’oeuvres from Jeanne’s Gelato, Acropolis and The Granola Jar. The hors d’oeuvres will be specifically selected to compliment the rich wine flavors. For example, wine flavored gelato will be served.
Uncorked will also feature live music by Monte Skelton and Shelly Long. Monte Skelton is a successful jazz musician and the former voice of jazz on the radio on 91.5 WUEV. He plays saxophone, electronic wind instruments, electric bass, percussion and many other instruments, and he is involved in the music education of many area youth.
To make reservations for this European event, visit click on the link below. Reservations are $25 for Contemporaries members, $35 for not-yet members or $40 at the door. Uncorked is from 7 – 10 p.m. and will be held in the pavilion, but the rest of the museum will be open for exploration. This is a great opportunity to view the new areas of the Museum.

The proceeds of this event will support the Museum Contemporaries and the many programs and projects they do to support the Museum. For over 20 years, the Museum Contemporaries have been a valuable presence in the Museum community promoting Museum awareness and a wider understanding and appreciation of art and culture. For example, the Contemporaries sponsor exhibitions such as the current Code Breakers exhibition and family activities such as Super Saturdays.
Last year the Contemporaries donated $20,000 to the Museum. Uncorked is one of their main fundraising events, along with their autumn beer-tasting event Brew Ha Ha. This year Brew Ha Ha will be held on September 27.
