"WALKING WITH YOU": A NEW RECORDING BY JOHN STREETMAN
Having just celebrated his 25th anniversary as Director of the Evansville Museum, John Streetman is also gaining increased attention as an accomplished composer and lyricist.
In conjunction with this anniversary, South Central Communications Corporation has produced a new recording--"Walking With You"--featuring 15 new songs performed by New York singer/actor Tim Ewing and Evansville singer/actor Cary Gray. Both Ewing and Gray were principal performers on Streetman's first recording, "Songs for Friends and Lovers", which was balloted for a Grammy nomination in 1997.
Musical Director and keyboardist Patrick McCormick joins arrangers James A. Greene, Phillip Brown and Mel Goot, in providing a lush musical setting for the seven-piece orchestra that accompanies the singers on their musical journey.
In the new recording, Streetman pays tribute to the influence that such venerable American songsmiths as Cole Porter, George Gershwin, and Harold Arlen have lent to his own musical vocabulary, while pausing along the way to remember the deeply felt songs of the World War II era.
