The Evansville Museum’s permanent art collection of American and European painting, graphic works, and sculpture dating from the 16th through the 20th centuries is exhibited in thematic galleries highlighting landscape, still life, genre works, and portraiture. A key work in the collection includes the watercolor “Pamet River Road” by American Edward Hopper (1882-1967).
The Humankind Gallery offers a fascinating look at past cultures with an emphasis on North and South America, Africa, and Asia. Featured in this gallery is the Qing Dynasty (1662-1722) ceramic “Kuan Yin.”
Three art galleries feature temporary exhibitions of important touring collections, exhibitions drawn from the Museum’s own collections, and the work of regional contemporary artists. Annually the Evansville Museum presents eighteen art exhibitions ranging from the High School Art Show to a one-person Artist Residency.
